Set Up Like a Shop, Not a Table
Customers don't shop comic conventions the same way they shop online — they buy with their eyes first. Your booth has only a few seconds to catch someone's attention as they walk by. The difference between a busy booth and an empty one is often how it's displayed, not what it's selling.
Think Vertically
One of the biggest mistakes vendors make is using only the tabletop. Build upward instead.
Use display shelves, grid walls, risers, banner stands, pegboards, or display cubes to add height. Vertical displays let customers see your products from farther down the aisle and make your booth stand out among rows of flat tables.
Create a Focal Point
Ask yourself one question:
"What is the first thing someone notices from 20 feet away?"
Your best-selling item, newest product, or most eye-catching display should be front and center. Give attendees a reason to stop before they ever reach your table.
Keep It Organized
Avoid the temptation to put everything out at once.
Group similar products together, leave some open space between displays, and make it easy for shoppers to browse. A clean booth feels more professional and encourages customers to spend more time looking around.
Price Everything Clearly
Many customers won't ask how much something costs — they'll simply move on.
Every major item should have an easy-to-read price tag. Clear pricing builds trust, speeds up purchasing decisions, and reduces the number of missed sales.
Make It Easy to Enter
Keep boxes, chairs, and storage bins out of the front of your booth whenever possible. Create an inviting space where customers feel comfortable stepping into your booth.
The easier your booth is to shop, the longer people tend to stay.
Walk Your Booth Before Opening
Before the doors open, walk 20–30 feet away and look back at your booth. Ask yourself:
- Can I immediately tell what this booth sells?
- Does anything catch my eye?
- Is my branding visible?
- Would I stop here?
If the answer isn't an immediate "yes," make a few adjustments before attendees arrive.
Final Thoughts
Your booth isn't just a table — it's your storefront for the weekend.
A clean, organized, professional display tells customers that you take pride in your business. That first impression often determines whether someone walks past...or walks in.
